Welcome to the new TTP forum!

Nice that you found us!

We are starting the New Year on the new domain, of course with a new email address (mail@ttpforum.de) and new information:

The annual International Meeting of the Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis Research took place in Basel from February 15th to 18th, 2017. At this congress, our self-help group was also represented. The voice of the TTP sufferers was heard right up to the top research and taken very seriously.

This homepage is primarily intended to provide basic information about the thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP, also called Moschcowitz Morbus). It provides physicians with the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of TTP and to inform themselves about some current research results. In addition, the homepage of people with TTP gives the opportunity to medically discuss the disease, share their experiences about the discussion forum and make personal contacts. A total of over 200 TTP sufferers are now networked via this homepage and their discussion forum.

The homepage is in cooperation with the university hospital Mainz, Germany. All articles, which are under the heading "By doctors for doctors", were written by Prof. Dr. med. I. Scharrer, those articles, which can be found under the heading "general information", were given by Prof. Dr. Med. I. Scharrer, as well as the information for those affected by the TTP.

The author of the homepage is herself a TTP patient, but she has no medical training and does not guarantee the correctness of the articles, which she has created under the heading "general information" and "self-help group" (against the background of scientific literature). These articles of a medical layperson are marked with the abbreviation Kn.

Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (Moschcowitz syndrome)

The thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) is an autoimmune disease and belongs to the thrombotic microangiopathies.

Symptomatic is an acute onset thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura with hemolytic anemia and fragmentocytes in the peripheral blood. There are hyaline thrombi in arterioles of all organs and eosinophilic masses between intima and media of the blood vessels. In many cases, this also leads to volatile neurological and psychological disturbances, especially drowsiness, hemiplegia, aphasia and spasms.
